RicDay on Publishing

I have not blogged for a long while. Health issues have made 2010 my annus horribilis and forced me to make decisions about where my available energy should be spent. I chose the publishing company in which I work over the blog and a number of other enjoyments.

I am not yet recovered. In fact, the ailment which struck me at the start of this year is still not fully diagnosed, despite the best efforts of (so far) my wonderful personal physician, five specialists, and the four hospitals I have so far attended. I believe we are close to identifying the root problem, and a minor procedure a week from now will hopefully do that.

So, as long as my painkillers don’t mess with me too much, I will be making occasional posts here again. I am unaccustomed to being unwell. I have lots of scars, some bits of titanium holding bits of me together, and a few repaired parts from years of passionately playing rugby, racing multihull yachts, body surfing large waves, and similar pursuits; I have mostly been spared physical illness until this year, when I feel as though I am repaying the debt of being healthy for all those years. Bluntly put, it sucks.
